As always, another year has gone – and while 2018 has reared its questionable head, Bonesaw staff has come together to bring you another list of our favorite metal shows of 2017.
Summer Slaughter 2017
Anthony : Who played this year again?
Birdman: The headliner was Black Dhalia Murder playing “Nocturnal” in full. Then, Nightbringers and then I Will Return. Also got to see Lorna Shore for the first time. Their guitarist is a great neoclassical player.
Jason: Nice.
Birdman: Also was a throwback for me seeing rings of Saturn and Oceano again
Tony: The overwhelming amount of core is why I didn’t go this year.
Jason: Agreed. Big drop off from 2016. My first and probably only time at Le Chance
Tony: 2016 had a great line up.
Decibel Metal and Beer Fest
Jason: I guess my number five best show (improvising here) is Decibel Metal and Beer Fest. Featured Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Municipal Waste, and Immolation. I only went Day 1, but hooray!
Anthony: Nice, Jason. I wanted to go but could not due to money shortage.
Birdman: Where was this, Philly?
Jason: Yeah. The Fillmore. It’s a pretty decent venue.
Anthony: Krieg played too right?
Jason: Yeah, but didn’t do much for me. The three bands I mentioned were great, but the pit action wasn’t because it became a slip and slide.
Anthony: Did you get to meet your waifu again?
Jason: Nah, I didn’t see Kat again. I mean not in person, ya know. Immolation were solid and I have a selfie with Ross Dolan.
Anthony: That sucks. She was such a nice lady at MDF 2015.
Jason: It was also my first time catching Waste. Not bad live and pretty decent cardio from circle pitting, and, of course, I went ham for ANB. Chicken man had to restrain me once (he’s a friend who’s a MDF regular).
Anthony: I still need to see waste.
Birdman: Oh, they’re so much fun live.
Jason: Yes, they are okay. What’s your #5 Anthony Carioscia?
Amon Amarth and Goatwhore at the Paramount Theater in Long Island
Jason: When was that again?
Birdman: I think Crazy Dan and Marcus went to that tour in CT.
Anthony: In May. My friend asked me to come along, so I figured why not? Awesome show. Amon played a lot of classics and Goatwhore is always fun to see.
Jason: Sadly, I never saw those vikings.
Tony: Recommend if you get the chance they out on a great performance. Glad to see them after being a fan since 8th grade
Birdman: Oh, they’re so much fun. I hope to catch them playing a headlining set instead of just a festival spot.
